A year ago today, I published my inaugural post on The Unemployed Philosopher’s Blog! Coincidentally, this is now my 150th post. It’s been a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone for reading. Thanks especially to everyone — Elke, Michelle, Jen, Stacey, David, Norm, Postmodern Donkey, Humans are Weird, Weekly Brain Dump; apologies if I’ve left anyone out — who has added value through their comments. I also want to thank all of my podcast guests for their contribution to the blog’s success. It’s really been a collaborative project.
I feel I’ve also grown a lot personally and professionally over the past year, and blogging has been a big part of that. Compared to this time last year, I’m much closer to self-employment than unemployment. I’m still going to keep the moniker though. As I’ve said before (in my best gravelly Christian Bale voice), the unemployed philosopher — or unemployed humanist — is a symbol; it could be any of us who find ourselves a bit lost in transition.
P.S. Just for fun, I’ve given the blog a new look for the new year. Let me know if you like it. If not, I can always change it back.
